How to Configure your Email Application for Quoting
This page has step-by-step guides to configuring and using these email clients for Quoting in Online Groups:

Configuring MS Outlook 98 for Quoting
To configure Outlook to end each line at 72 characters long:- from the "Tools" menu and choose "Options"
- on the "Internet E--mail" tab, set it to "When sending messages, wrap text at" 72 "characters per line"
To configure Outlook to put the ">" signs in when replying to email:
- from the "Tools" menu and choose "Options"
- on the "Preferences" tab (which is the default), click the button labelled "E-mail options "
- on the "E-mail Options" dialog box, set "when replying to a message" to "prefix each line of the original message" and "Prefix each line with" to "> " (that is the ">" character followed by a space " ").
Note: the "Prefix each line with" option is unavailable if you are using MS Word as your "message format".
While you are there, it is good to make sure your text format is plain text or RTF:
- from the "Tools" menu and choose "Options"
- select the "Mail Format" tab. In the list box labelled "send in this message format:"
- select "Microsoft Outlook Rich Text" or "Plain Text"
Configuring GroupWise for Quoting

To configure Netscape Messenger (Communicator) for Quoting:- from the "Edit" menu and choose "Preferences"
- in "Mail & Newsgroups" choose the "Messages" category
- tick "Automatically quote the original message when replying"
- and set it to "Then start my reply above the original quoted text"
- still on "Messages" set it to "wrap outgoing plain text at" 72 "characters"
- move to the "Formatting" category under "Mail & Newsgroups"
- in "Message Format", set it to "use the plain text editor to compse messages"

Configuring Microsoft Outlook Express 4.x for Quoting
To configure Outlook Express for Quoting:- from the "Tools" menu and choose "Options"
- on the "Send" tab, in "Mail sending format" select "Plain Text"
- click the "Settings" button for Plain Text
- set it to "Automatically wrap text at" 72 "characters, when sending"
- and to "Indent the original text with "> " when replying or forwarding"

Quoting Using the GroupSense List Server Web User Interface
